Explore the World Heritage Rainforest

Kuranda Skyrail and Rail are two spectacular ways to see Queenslands Tropical North. Glide over World Heritage rainforest aboard the Skyrail, the world's longest gondola cableway. Upon your return to Cairns, board the Kuranda Scenic Rail; an ideal way to experience scenic highlights as you wind your way home through the mountains.

There are also many parks with walking trails on the Atherton

Discover the genuine Australian Outback less, than 90 minutes drive west of Cairns. Safari tours are a great way to see the Outback, with tour operators offering a variety of itineraries and destinations. Visit Undara Volcanic National Park and explore the world-renowned Undara Lava Tubes.

Cairns is also the perfect departure point for extended trips to Cooktown, Chillago and the Cape.

 
Around Town

Take a leisurely stroll along the 2.5 km long Cairns Esplanade or relax by the brand new swimming lagoon. It's one of Cairns' best places to relax in the sun or to enjoy a BBQ with friends.

Wander around the Cairns CBD and you’ll find many souvenir shops selling all types of interesting keepsakes. The major shopping centres in the City are Cairns Central, which is a short walk down Shields street and The Pier Market Place, close to the new Lagoon across from the Pacific International Hotel.

Markets are a great place to find interesting locally produced items. The product range is huge and ranges from jewellery and pottery to all sorts of artwork, clothes, homemade food and unique Australian goods.
